"Home Alone": 25 years old, and on Netflix for Christmas!!

If you are of a certain age, you'll vividly remember the hype surrounding "Home Alone" on it's original release in 1990 (16th of November in the USA, 14th of December in Ireland). The film was MASSIVE at the time, and has become a family Christmas favourite. It's spawned a bunch of sequels, but none of them capture the magic of the first film. "Home Alone" is now streaming on Netflix UK and Ireland so now is a great time to revisit it!

While you are watching, here's five little pieces of trivia for you:
1) Joe Pesci deliberately avoided Macaulay Culkin on set because he wanted Culkin to think he was mean.

2) The picture Kevin finds of Buzz's girlfriend was a picture of a boy made up to look like a girl because director Chris Columbus thought it would be too cruel to make fun of a girl.

3) Daniel Stern agreed to have the tarantula put on his face for exactly one take. He had to mime screaming because the noise would have scared the spider, so the…

Frozen Inspired Nails for Winter with Lillibug

I'm back again with more nail inspiration thanks to Lillibug! Winter is definitely well and truly here in Ireland and my nails needed to join in with the weather. I decided not to go with berries or reds and  instead took inspiration from "Frozen".

Using Barry M Speedy Quick Dry in the shade Eat My Dust (€5.99) it gave us that "Frozen" feeling and it looked fab. It did take 2 coats to get this to the opacity that was needed and could nearly have went for a third but I didn't have the patience to wait for it to dry. It claims to be quick dry but I really don't feel that is. The colour is bluish/grey and sometimes it looks like I have a white base underneath but I don't it, it just has a milky look to it (if that makes any sense to you, you deserve a star).

To add a bit of magic and glitter we went with Nails Inc Alexa Holographic (from a Nails Inc. set) and added on top of the Barry M to give an extra pop! It's a very fine silver glitter which …

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil "Blackmail"

I'm Back!!! I took a little break the last few weeks to recharge the blogging batteries, and I have returned with the fabulous Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil (€18.50) in the shade "Blackmail". With 5 new shades to join the lineup I was delighted to be sent this to try out.

I have to admit first off I'm not used to lip pencils. I own the grand total of three and dodn't get on super with them due to how dry they are. This, however, I jumped into trying to see how different it could be and if I could easily use it. The colour also was totally out of my comfort zone but I embraced it.

Blackmail is described as a deep berry wine and has a matte finish. I found applying it creamy and it stayed put ALL day which was super impressive. I did pair the lipliner with my Bourjois Colour Lip Boost in Russian Plus to soften the look and it worked a treat and then I feathered the lip liner in a bit.

I found wearing the lip pencil as an all over colour a tad bit drying on …

#NOTD Essie Nothing Else Metals

Oh my word, imagine I haven't done a Nails of the Day post since February. That really is shocking! I did give my nails a really long break from polish because they had gotten really weak, but they are back to all their strength now and I've picked up some new polishes. I want to start off with Essie Nothing Else Metals because it really is beautiful.

This is from the Essie Mirror Metallics Range and I was originally looking to get Penny Talk as I'm trying to find the perfect Rose Gold polish but anyway I couldn't get it, but I got this beauty instead and I'm really delighted with the results.

The formula is super fast to dry which is always a plus when it comes to a polish. It did however show up ridges or dents in the nails, and I'm putting it down to the formula not being creamy. To avoid brush strokes showing up try not to go over the same place again and again. The brush is good and fans out so I found that I didn't need to go over strokes. The pictu…

October Instagram Roundup

It's that time again where I bring you my monthly Instagram roundup. I really enjoy looking back though the pictures from the month and picking out some of my favourites. At the end of these posts I'm also going to recommend one of my favourite Instagrammers that I think you might enjoy following.
Every so often you might get a glimpse of Lillibug, and this is a moment we shared on Instagram during October. She is the light of my life.

I enjoyed our holiday so much in September that I've been looking and searching for new places to go. So looking at my travel essentials really gave me some inspiration.

I can never resist new stationery and what makes these pencils even better are the inspirational message they have to remind me I'm flaming wonderful!

I also made a Cloud 10 Beauty order this month which I did not feel guilty in purchasing in the slightest. The fact that €1 from every order going to the Irish Cancer Society had us all talking, and in turn brought awareness…

Pippa for Blank Canvas Cosmetics Palette

I finally got my hands on the Pippa for Blank Canvas Cosmetics Palette thanks to a friend who treated me for my birthday a while back! So I've been putting it to the test to bring you the lowdown on the much talked about palette.

Pippa is one of Ireland's well known models and in 2013 set up to talk about her love of beauty, style and fashion. So next on the list for the beautiful businesswoman was to create a palette and together with Blank Canvas Cosmetics this is the finished result!

The cardboard palette houses a good sized mirror along with six matte eyeshadows, one highlighter, one blusher and one bronzer. The shades are all very much leaning to the warm side, and suited my pale skin really well.

The eyeshadows all blend really well, and any neutral shadow lover would adore this, and can build up to a wonderful smokey eye. They can be used dry or wet. They feel super soft and you have your essentials when it comes to these shades.

Netflix Stream Team: Making Mjolnir (Thor's Hammer) for Halloween!

It's that time of year again, Halloween! As a kid, it was a time for making your own costumes and props, so I decided to carry on this tradition with Lillibug. Now as you've seen on this blog before, Lillibug is big into her Disney Princesses, but she also enjoys her Marvel heroes with her favourites being Captain America and Thor. It was the latter that I decided I was going to try and take inspiration from, and what better than with Thor's signature weapon, the hammer "Mjolnir". So follow my steps below, (and hopefully improve on them) to make your own!
What you need: A cereal box, some tinfoil, 1 x toilet roll insert, 1 x kitchen roll insert, sellotape, and a scissors.

Step 1: Cut the toilet roll insert open, and flatten.

Step 2: Stand the kitchen roll insert in the centre of the flattened open toilet roll insert and attach with sellotape. If there's little hand that want to help with this, all the better. Be careful with that scissors though!
Step 3: Attach …
