Throw Back Thursday with Netflix

We're back again with Netflix and now joining Stream Team for our third year. We are super excited about this and hope you continue to read and enjoy our posts.

For about 3 weeks there was a lot of binge watching here of Netflix because Lillibug was very sick. The only thing she had energy for was the couch for cuddles and loads of Netflix. I took great delight in watching a lot of these because it brought me right back to my own childhood as I watched all these too. I think it's great that what we watched as kids still stands up today and something for our kids to enjoy.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Season 1-4

While it's not exactly the same as the "My Little Pony" of my youth, the basics are still the same. However instead of the harmless humour of the original, this show is a bit more anarchic in the "Spongebob Squarepants" style, which would also explain why it's developed a cult following among adults. Not to say that the humour is ever inappropriate or anything. This is a colourful, funny update of an 80's classic that can be enjoyed by all.

Garfield and Friends Season 1-2

The sardonic cat with no patience for anything other than sleep or lasagne is currently streaming on Netflix. While this programme started in 1988, it's aged really well. The animation still looks good, and the never ending struggle between cat and human, and cat and dog, is timeless! Garfield is nearly more relevant now due to the sheer amount of cat related material on the internet! Now if I was a cat I have a feeling I'd be Garfield!

Care Bears & Cousins Season 1-2

Ah Care Bears, hands up if you remember the Kingdom of  Caring? I loved the Care bears and Lillibug is loving them just as much! I used to collect the teddies and loved the insignia (belly badges), which represented their personalities and duties. They were first launched in 1982 and have made many a relaunch since. Now thanks to Netflix commissioning Care Bears & Cousins we are back in action.

Disney Bedknobs and Broomsticks

While it's not exactly "Mary Poppins", "Bedknobs and Broomsticks" was a decent effort by Disney to recapture the magic of "Mary Poppins". The two films share some cast members, songwriters and director. As well as that the film integres of animation and live action the same way that "Mary Poppins" did. Angela Lansbury stars as a witch in training who takes in three kids left homeless during the London bombings during World War II. While it's nowhere near as good as "Mary Poppins", it's not without it's charm especially the performances of Angela Lansbury who I just love and David Tomlinson.

*Disclaimer: I'm a member of the Netflix Stream Team and for this I received a complimentary subscription for one year & an Apple TV (Box).  All opinions are my own, and I will be posting once a month in relation to Netflix Stream Team. Stay tuned........

  1. Ahhhhhmazing! I love love LOVE Garfield and Friends. I was obsessed with Garfield comics when I was little and needed everything of that cat :) Bedknobs & Broomsticks was also a favourite! I watched that recently to relive my love for the Island of Naboomboom.
