Urban Decay; Gwen Stefani Lipstick "Spiderweb"
At the beginning of this year there was massive excitement about the Urban Decay collaboration with Gwen Stefani. The eyeshadow palette was the first to arrive before Christmas, then followed by the blush palette, lipsticks, lipliners and Brow Box. I love Gwen Stefani, not only for her music but her style and how it has evolved over the years. She rocks a bold lip, and it explains why there were so many reds in this collection of lipsticks. The lipsticks include a mix of bright reds, purple and nude, six shades in total to choose from. I was drawn to "Spiderweb" after seeing Claire by Reverie talking about it on her blog and loved how it looked on the fab Claire.
At €21 these aren't cheap so I wanted this to perform and I wasn't let down at all. This is a beautiful satin red that glides on with no fuss and the lasting power is one of the best. It started to wear away after around 5 hours on me but it left a stain that was just as nice on my lips. The formula was really hydrating which is always great when it comes to a lipstick, but can usually be the downfall of a lipstick when you want longevity, but this held up really well. I've thin lips so sometimes I would have to clean up the edges with a bit of concealer after applying.
I do love a red and this is one is a nice cool tone against my skin. I love the sheen that comes from this as well. The packaging looks great with it's gold and black, which came from Gwen Stefani's love of graphic bold prints and gold accents. However, to me the lipstick packaging felt a little cheap in my hand but is firmly made up by the formula of the lipstick itself.
I have my eye on Wonderland next because I just can't resist owning another red! I would definitely give this a big thumbs up. All six shades feature Pigment Infusion System™ that gives it the super-creamy texture, rich payout and superior colour dispersion.
